Teacher, Artist, Lifelong Learner

My name is Scott. I love playing music, writing songs, spending time with my dog Moonlight, and getting lost in the woods.

I've been playing music in some form for most of my life, but my real journey began when I was 12 and picked up my first guitar. My teacher encouraged me to learn the music I liked and to explore the things that were fun to play. That simple philosophy was the key to my success and and has become my own guiding principle as I teach young musicians. I discovered a love for piano as a teenager, and became passionate about writing my own songs as I began my music degree at the University of Minnesota.

I've had the privilege of writing and performing with some amazing groups in my life. Most recently, my band QUAERY put out an EP of songs that I wrote with two collaborators. I'm also really proud of the work I did with my former band The Paper Days. We put out an album and later got the opportunity to compose a collaborative piece with the University of Minnesota Wind Band program.

In college I connected with a local music studio and began teaching for them. I discovered immediately that I loved getting others excited about learning music. In the 12 years since then, I've discovered that teaching is not just a job for me, it's a way of sharing myself with the world.
